  1. Coordinate, at the national level, all Disaster Risk Management issues in the country.
  2. Advice the National, county Governments, private sector and other stakeholders in DRM activities.
  3. Prepare an inventory of DRR resources and assets in the country
  4. Liaise with donors and stakeholders in DRR activities
  5. Collaborate with County Governments in preparation of evacuation plans and shelter for IDPs
  6. Assist in clearance of aircraft, ships, customs and visa for international disaster responders 
  7. Preparation of media programmes for public information and press briefings at the center
  8. Promote research into all aspects of disaster Risk Management
  9. Capacity building through training of Disaster Risk Management personnel
  10. Conduct annual review, evaluation and validation of national and sectoral disaster mitigation plans to improve their effectiveness and efficiency
  11. Conduct drills and exercises in the country
